Helsinki & Tallinn in 4 Days

Day 1 · Helsinki
Island Views and Old Squares
To start, you head out to Suomenlinna, where sea, fortress walls and open paths instantly set that clear Helsinki mood. Back in the city, the route continues to the Uspenski Cathedral, whose striking silhouette stays with you even from outside. At Helsinki Market Square and in the Old Market Hall things get busier, more down to earth and very close to the city's everyday life.

Rock, Light and Design
The day begins in the Temppeliaukio Church, where rock and light create an unusually calm atmosphere. Then the Helsinki Central Library Oodi shows how modern and open the city feels. Around the Helsinki Cathedral and later in the Design District Helsinki you switch almost effortlessly between classic cityscape and creative streets.

Tallinn from Above
In Tallinn you start at the Patkuli Viewing Platform and look straight out over rooftops, towers and the city wall. Then Vanalinn draws you deeper into the old town with its lanes, until you reach the Tallinn Town Hall right in the historic core. Passing through the Viru Gate, the entrance to the city feels almost like a little stage set of its own.

Markets and Walls
The last day starts at Balti Jaama Turg with plenty of movement and a direct feel for today's Tallinn. Then it grows quieter up on Toompea hill: St Mary's Cathedral and Toompea Castle pack history and views into a small space. With the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Kiek in de Kök Fortification Museum the trip ends on a powerful note between domes, stone and city fortifications.
