Bilbao & San Sebastián in 4 Days
This trip takes you through two Basque cities that tick very differently and fit together all the better for it. In Bilbao you move from the narrow lanes of the Casco Viejo to bold architecture on the river and on into quiet parks. Then San Sebastián awaits with viewpoints, Atlantic air and old-town streets that almost explore themselves.
What makes this route special is the switch between city feeling and coast, between grand museum buildings and short walks with a view. You see a lot without constantly being on the move, and in four days you get a clear impression of both cities.

Day 1 · Bilbao
Bilbao between old town and modern city
To start, you dive into the Casco Viejo, Bilbao's dense, lively centre. From there the route crosses the Zubizuri to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, where the city suddenly feels wide, open and thoroughly modern. Later things grow calmer in the Doña Casilda Iturrizar parkea, before the day winds down with one last change of perspective.

Views and market halls
The day begins with sweeping views at the Artxanda viewpoint, where you have Bilbao laid out before you as a whole once more. The Artxanda Funicular takes you back towards the city, then you switch to the enclosed, urban atmosphere of the Plaza Berria. To finish, the Erriberako Merkatua brings you close to the everyday life of the city one more time.

San Sebastián with sea views
In Donostia the day starts up on Igeldo, where sea, city and hills come together in a single view. The ride on the Funicular Monte Igueldo is as much part of the experience as the view itself. Later, the sculptures at the Comb of the Wind (Eduardo Chillida, 1976) show the city's rougher, wind-swept side before you let the day fade out in the Old Town.

Day 4 · Donostia / San Sebastián
Beach, history and old town
In the morning the Zurriola beach feels wide and open, with plenty of sky and a different energy from the city's classic bay. Then the San Telmo Museum takes you into Donostia's historical depth, before the setting between sea and hills becomes tangible again around the Motako Gaztelua. To close, the Beach of La Concha delivers exactly the relaxed finale that suits this fourth day.
